About 3400 starting at serial number 1300 7 1/2 forty four caliber double action revolvers were produced.The original government order was for 5000,but that was reduced to tow thousand when guns failed government testing.Guns like this #8680 amount five hundred that went to the third Michigan Cavalry. Gun is in smooth finish probably been lightly cleaned,there are inspection marks on the metal and faint remnants of cartouche on grips.Action does not work at present.The cylinder turns when the trigger is pulled but gun does not cock and fire. Not seen imany collections.
