Description:
A good functioning pepperbox of about .32 cal with a stong mainspring. Indexes and thurns the 3 1/2" barrels correctly. The barrel appears to have added coloring at some point like cold blue and the hand chiseled frame was buffed and is not shiny. ALLEN & THURBER , WORCESTER clearly marked.Patches of sparce salt and pepper very fine pits from usuing caustic black powder, but shows up well.The back strap uncommonly is engraved also, And the American black walnut grips are complete and very good , with age staining near the screw escheceon . These were the first true American 1830's double action revolvers made in America and many saw action the Texas/Mexico war as well as the gold rush.
