Description:
CASED PAIR /London Retailer Marked Antique COLT NEW LINE .32 Cal. Revolvers

ETCHED PANEL Potent Conceal & Carry Guns

Here we present an Antique Cased Pair of London Retailer Marked Etched Panel Colt New Line .32 Caliber Revolvers, made in 1882 and 1883 in Hartford, Connecticut. A single action revolver, these small pocket revolvers were  produced by Colt from 1873 to 1884. The “New Line” was Colt’s first production model handgun chambered for .32 caliber. Both of these revolvers are marked “Cogswell & Harrison / 226 Strand London” on the top strap. Cogswell & Harrison was established in May 1770 and is London’s oldest surviving gun maker. Over the years, Cogswell & Harrison has manufactured and retailed a quite diverse range of sporting shotguns, rifles, and pistols during its long history.

The New Line series of revolvers, including all calibers, was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1873 and continued through 1884. Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt.

This revolver features 5 shots of .32 caliber fitted to a 2-1/4” long round barrel and a handsome wizened nickel finish with hard rubber grips. About 22,000 were produced in this caliber. These revolvers would have come in very handy on the busy streets of London during the late-19th century.

The overall condition is very good+. Original nickel and fire blue finish. The actions are excellent. The bore on #18878 is in nice shape, clean with sharp rifling, while that of #19799 has some little bit of oxidation toward the muzzle and is otherwise well-rifled. Each is London proofed. Grips are in great shape. The case is near fine.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrels are both 2-1/4 inches.

Caliber: .32 Centerfire

Overall condition as seen in photos.
