This is a fine large frame Deane Adams & Deane five-shot revolver. The caliber appears to be 476 centerfire. The overall length is approx. 14"". The approx. 7.75"" octagon barrel has a fine bore with a couple areas of light erosion. It is equipped with a blade front sight and a small standing notched rear sight on the top strap. The top of the barrel is marked DEANE ADAMS & DEANE. (MAKERS TO H.R.H. PRINCE ALBERT.) 50 KING WILLIAM ST. LONDON BRIDGE. It is also stamped with Birmingham proofs and the final view acceptance marks. The right side of the frame is marked ADAM'S PATENT No2206(R) with a Birmingham proof overlaid between the 2's. The frame, butt cap, and trigger guard are lightly engraved in a scroll pattern. The butt cap has a compartment in the bottom. The gun retains approx. 90% blue with the trigger guard and butt cap turning brown and spotting on the barrel. The checkered grips are fine with light bruising. The double action functions correctly. It is equipped with an unusual safety on the left side which can be pushed in while the hammer is held slightly back. It then holds the hammer slightly back in a ""safe"" position. This is a great looking very large English Adams revolver that would fit nicely in any early cartridge revolver collection. This is the only one we have ever encountered.
