Description:
Serial #137422, .22 Short, 28" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has traces of mild freckling within the grooves. This is a late production rifle, made ca. 1920, and retains about 65-70% of the original blue finish, mostly along the barrel. The frame has an overall plum-brown patina with thin freckling that carries over onto the barrel band, nosecap, and the Lyman rear receiver sight. The lever has some traces of original blue on protected areas, but has a matching plum-brown patina on the balance. The walnut musket-style forend has some small handling marks and minor bruises scattered about the original oil finish, while the buttstock has an old reapplied oil finish over some small handling marks and blemishes, included a diagonal cut on the comb, just ahead of the buttplate tang on the right side. The musket has a fixed sling swivel on the barrel band, with a Winchester QD swivel on the belly of the buttstock. This is a very good example of a desirable Winder Musket, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
