Wells Miller served with the Marine Corp In WW 1 and again all through WW 2 in the South Pacific, he retired in 1946 as a Colonel.
There is a very small spot of rust on the blade 4.5 " from the tip.
This sword was made by Bailey, Banks and Biddle.
