England: A Hand Detachable Ejector (Droplock) 12 Bore Completed in 1900 with Rib Extension Third Bite, New barrels were added by Westley Richards in 1962, 28" barrels, "C" Bolting Dolls Head Third Fastener Rib Extension, Non-Hinged cover plate, In 1962 new barrels were installed and so marked by Westley Richards, .730 .006 & .038" (Imp. Cyl. & Full), 2 1/2" chambers, Proved at 3 Tons, Double triggers, Scalloped action back, Splinter forend with a Deeley & Edge pull down release, Straight hand stock at 14 1/4 x 1 9/16 x 2 1/4" over a checkered butt with steel heel and toe plates, Cast-off for the right hand, Very nice 28" barrel weight of 6 lbs. 8 oz., 95% coverage of very well cut scroll engraving, Nice wood with nice color and contrast, No case colors remain, Original barrel black from 1962 at 95%, The barrel striking remains excellent, The wood at 88-90%, The checkering is at 90%, The barrels are excellent inside and out. It is cased in the original leather cornered leather trunk with the original trade label for that era.

Leslie Bown Taylor first joined Westley Richards when he was 17 years old, by the time he was 31 he was promoted to Company Manager. In 1897 Taylor along with John Deeley patented the detachable lock version of the Anson & Deeley action known as the Droplock here in the U. S. This design is still being produced to this very day. Mr. William Westley Richards would be pleased to know the influence his capable people had on the trade with this unique but functional patent.
