Description:
This Colt Single Action was shipped to Hartley & Graham, located in New York, NY in the "soft" (The word "soft" which appears as the finish on the factory Colt letter indicates the frame and gate were not case-hardened when this arm was shipped from the factory and these parts were left in soft condition for engraving outside the factory) along with 25 other Colt's on February 10, 1883. The Single Action Colt is fitted with a 7 1/2 inch barrel, one-piece ivory grips (having nicely aged with the gun), is nickel finished, approximately 1/2 coverage engraved, and chambered in .45 LC.. The gun is in excellent original condition (as of leaving Hartley & Graham) and retains 70% of its nickel finish, with basically strong/well defined engraving, except for wear of the engraving on the cylinder. The grips fit well, have shrunk some, and are in very fine condition, with no chips or major cracking. The bore is shootable, with strong rifling, but is frosty throughout. The action functions perfectly, with a tight lock-up. Is all numbers matching: Frame to trigger guard and backstrap. A beautiful engraved Colt, and a wonderful example of its type, would be a worthy addition to any Colt collection. Comes with a December 7, 1981 Colt factory letter.
