Both blacked round 28" chopper lump nitro proved steel barrels with 2-3/4" chambers, tapered, smooth, concave game ribs with a steel front beads. Gun number 1 is choked modified and improved modified while gun number 2 is choked improved cylinder and improved modified. Ribs are engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON.' & 'MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESS STEEL'. Ribs near the breeches with '1' and '2' engraved. The case color hardened finished action bodies are adorned with rose bouquets and fine English Arabesque scrolls. The lockplates are engraved "J. PURDEY & SONS". The bottom of the action body is engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS LONDON'. Blacked engraved top levers with '1' and '2' with both sides of the thumb pieces checkered and "SAFE" gold-inlaid on top tangs ahead of engraved and checkered slide safeties.
