FRENCH & INDIAN WAR AMERICAN “FOLKY ARTIST” CARVED POWDER HORN OR POWDERHORN DATED 1759. 10 1/2” carved by “Folky Artist” probably while on campaign during the successful assault on Quebec in 1759 with the date encapsulated in a cartouche at the top of the horn. Large Royal Coat of Arms with “DIE ET MON DROIT” foot banner. Classic cartoon like “Lion” and “Unicorn” carving. Fine original patina on horn and large bulbous original wood plug of New York/New England style. Rare with only a dozen or so known. $5500.
