Description:
5 shot revolver with a 2-3/4 inch barrel and no loading lever. Chambered in 31 caliber with a dark bore and very good rifling. It has the correct London barrel address and British proof marks. Barrel has an aged light to medium brown patina. Nice sharp edges. Very nice condition gun with good case colors remaining on the frame and an excellent above average cylinder scene. There is some shrinkage to the ivory grips and consequently they are a bit loose with a couple of chips missing. Action is solid and the gun functions very well. All matching numbers including the wedge. 5900 serial range. The London pistols were of the same configuration but usually of better finish and were in the 1-11,000 serial range and made between 1853-1857. This is the Late Type (after 1,500 s/n) with the oval trigger guard and the steel backstrap.
