Description:
This U.S. Springfield Model 1884 was manufactured sometime between July & September 1891. Gun remains in very good overall condition. Wood has a small crack in front of screw on left behind receiver and a large scratch on left buttstock. Wood has been totally redone and has lost any trace of patina with a glossy finish added. Inspector's cartouche remains visible but somewhat hard to read. Metal has a light coat of oxidation on sling swivel and inside trigger guard. Bore is lightly frosted but may clean up well. Buffington sight has rusted shut and needs some work. Spider hole door and bayonet rod release are also frozen shut and require some work. This would make a great gun for the Civil War enthusiast! .45-70 Government
