Description:
Serial #140, .30 RF Short, 2 7/8" octagon barrel with a fair, lightly pitted bore. This is a nice little small-frame revolver that retains 90-92% of the original nickel plated finish, with most of the finish loss occurring on the cylinder where there is some minor flaking to the underlying dark metal, mostly towards the front and within the flutes. Some further wear is present on the stepped ejector rod. The trigger has a pewter gray patina, and the hammer hammer has turned to dark gray, although some muted color case-hardening is still visible. The checkered hard rubber factory grips rate fair with moderate wear. Additionally, the right panel, cracked in half across the escutcheon, has a nice, period repair. The gun has a crisp action, and locks up correctly. This is a very good-near fine example of a hard-to-find No. 1 Smoot. Antique;
