This was the standard Ruggles pistol made for small game hunting and personal defense.
Condition: 6’ part round , part octagon barrel with a good bore , minor pitting and still showing a trace of rifling. Percussion nipple is in good shape and open to the barrel. Metal finish has turned to a nice gun-metal grey with the usual wear and handling marks for a pistol of this age. Barrel markings appear to be somewhat clear and legible with the chicken track engraving on the barrel top. The walnut grips are in great shape but may have been added from another gun. They appear to be the bulbous type grip that H.J. Hale used during the same period. That said they are in very good shape and makes this pistol unique. The action works excellent with a very strong hammer spring.
