A Very Early & Very Rare Revolutionary War One Of A Kind "General Regnier's Defensive Lighter Pistol" Circa 1750 In Excellent Untouched Condition! All original and complete. The extremely rare pistol was developed by "General Regnier" in 1750. The pistol has fine metal and markings. "General Regnier's Defensive Lighter Pistol" is in French on the lock plate. The metal and glass candle encasement is all original and opens correctly. The early browned finish defensive pig sticker attached to the front of it is also all original. The wood stock is fine throughout with nice carving throughout it. The lock on it works properly. The pistol measures 15 1/2 inches in total length and the pig sticker blade is 7 inches long.
The idea behind this pistol was that you would use it as defense if someone broke into your house at night. You would light the candle to search for the intruder and then fire the lock to scare him off. If he came at you, you would use the pig sticker in the front to stab him and protect yourself. The lighter pistol was also offered as a signal pistol to the military in 1750. The Defense Pistol is pictured in the book "Blades & Barrel" with a full description on pages 241-242. The pistol is the exact one that is pictured in the book. "It Is The Only One Known To Exist At This Time" The book will be included with the pistol when purchased. This Rare Pistol Sold 20 Years Ago For $30,000 And was In That Collection until Now.
