This listing is for my Smith & Wesson Model 66-1 357 Magnum revolver with 4 inch barrel. I bought this revolver two years ago to give me a little better sight picture at the range than my other Model 66 that has a 2 1/2 inch barrel. This worked as planned and the revolver is excellent mechanically and very accurate. It appears to have been shot very little. Then very recently, I acquired a Model 686 with a 5 inch barrel and this Model 66 will just languish in the gun safe.
I bought this revolver from a Kentucky dealer who advertised it as a "State Police trade-in", however, the dealer would never tell me if it was from the Kentucky State Police or from another state police. The state police inventory number 23059-42 is carefully stamped on the left side of the revolver just below the cylinder. The revolver is in excellent mechanical condition and has an excellent bore. It has the pinned barrel and the recessed cylinder. There are a few very minor scratches from use. The wood grips are in very good condition with just a slight amount of finish loss on the lower part of the right grip. This one, as most state police revolvers, was carried a lot and shot very little. I only get to shoot once or twice a month and take different guns when I go to the range. I may have shot this one 500 rounds at most.
Included with the revolver is the Hogue monogrip I put on the revolver when I got it. The original grips stayed in my safe the whole time I have had the revolver and were just put back on for photographing. I think I took photos of all areas, but would be glad to answer any questions or provide additional photos upon request. This is a very nice revolver with many years of useful life remaining. I guess I will lose a few dollars on this one, since I have not had it very long, but that is better than it just taking up space in the safe.
