Description:
I've had this L. C. Smith in my Smith collection for over 40 years. I kept it because of the finely made thin crowned and highly figured European walnut stock, 26 lines per inch checkering, all wood fitting tightly to the metal, fine miroor bores, and early productions features. There is still some, but thinning, case colors in some areas, and good damascus patterns on the barrels, except they are worn thin in some areas near the breech.There are a few light marks on the stock and two small nicks on the forend. The forend wood tip has a wood insert that was installed precisely at some point and fits tightly.
This gun was made in 1898, 12 gauge, 30 inch barrels choked F&F, and auto ejecters. It has the desirable early quail and snipe engraving. Just under 14 inches pull to the front trigger. Replacelment butt pad professionally installed. 7# 6oz. This Smith was finely cared for. $2950
