Description:
Original Montgomery Ward & Co. Holster. This single loop holster was shop made and beautifully and elaborately hand stamped. The main seam is sewn and all stitching is tight. The workmanship is excellent, and equal to that of shops like Heiser and others. This holster will fit a S&W New Model 3, a S&W Double Action Frontier and Belguim Copies (as shown), .44 Merwin and Hulbert with a 6 or 6 1/2 inch barrel and Colt Model 1873s with 4 3/4 and 5 1/2. A single loop style with the loop sewn to the skirt. Stamped on the back (407XSP 38 5"). The 5 on the back indicates 6 inch barrel, but as you can see by the pictures it is a perfect fit for my 6 1/2" S&W D.A. Frontier and for a 5 1/2" Colt SAA. Can be seen in "Packing Iron"on page 135 and also inside the front cover. The pouch has a large stamp of a horse and rider with the loop showing a star burst pattern. The leather is in very good condition, soft, flexible, clean, showing near new condition. The main seam stitching tight. The plug in the bottom could be resewn to make it secure. Magnification shows no cracks, scratches, or breaks.The leather is alive and would give years of service or displaying with your antique S&W. This holster is looking for a FINE revolver to add that final touch. My guns are not included.
