Description:
A 1984 dated factory letter accompanies this fresh to market and wonderful investment grade factory engraved K-22, which is complete and virtually as-new in the original box. The gun is signed on the left grip frame 'RUSS' for Russ Smith the premiere S&W factory engraver of the period. The tight floral scrollwork features a mixed hatching and faint punchdot background with an extremely unique engraving pattern and coverage. The gun retains 99%+ of the original bright blue finish which shows only the faintest of collector-type handling evidence and aging. Note the smooth rosewood target stocks have the earliest flare under the trigger guard and are quite seriously the best pair of S&W K frame target stocks we have ever seen. The grain pattern is exceptional, the finish is glass like and the shape is extraordinary. Knowledgeable collectors will squeal when they see these grips. Rarely is any post war engraved gun signed from the factory. Clearly Russ Smith was proud of this one, and you will be too. A must own K-frame!
