Description:
This Savage 220D in 20 gauge stands out above most 220s for a number of reasons. First, it is one of the later models with a 3” factory chamber, but with the same top lever opening of the earlier guns. Also, I had a professional gunsmith thread the barrel for choke tubes. It comes with two choke tubes, a skeet choke and a full choke. Other choke tubes are readily available. I also had the forcing cones lengthened to reduce recoil and improve the pattern. All this work was performed by Mike Orlen. From what I have read the barrel markings indicate that this gun was made in 1964. As a single barrel with the much safer top tang slide safety the Model 220 is an ideal youth or lady’s starter gun because it weighs only about 5.5 pounds. With the full choke tube installed and because of the light weight it makes for a great easy to carry turkey gun. Black walnut stock is solid with no flaws. Case colored receiver. Stock dimensions are 14 3/8 LOP, 1 1/2 DAC, 2 1/2 drop at heel.
