Description:
This is a Swiss made sword the measures 39" overall, with a 33 1/4" straight, single-edged-blade having narrow double fullers and sharpened half way to the tip. The steel has and overall dull pewter gray patina with a few scattered spots of plum-brown freckling on both faces of the blade. The long ricasso is marked "FH" for FRIEDRICH HORSTER of Solingen, Prussia, with the retailers name of "Y Diebold Filo Yiurich" on the obverse, with the serial number (1900), and the Roman numeral III, Swiss Cross opposite. The hilt has a pierced steel guard with Swiss Cross and vine motif, a single forward-swept quillon, and dove head pommel with thumbprint backstrap. The shagreen grip is in very good condition and exhibits minor surface wear, while the braided wire wrap is intact. The guard also features a leather finger loop fastened with a regulation nut. The steel scabbard is in very good condition with some scattered areas of mild surface oxidation, and minor scratches along it's length. The sword rate very good-fine condition over-all.
