Description: Documented Model 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver, .45 Cal, mfg. 1883 with 7 1/2" barrel. This is a super cool old cowboy gun with tons of frontier charm! Evenly worn overall with a dark plum/brown patina thinning to salt & pepper. Metal is generally smooth overall some old pinprick pitting on the left recoil shield and superfine pinpricks lightly scattered throughout. Original wood grips fit very nicely (slightly undersized from natural shrinkage) and show heavy wear with a dark unmolested appearance. Small chip at each lower front corner with rounding at rear corners and stable 1 7/8" crack on right panel. Original long knurled hammer, trigger, loading gate, ejector assembly with brass spring, cylinder pin, and full blade front sight. All screws appear to be original. Worn three-line patent markings with original serial number "91059" stamped on frame, barrel, cylinder, triggerguard, and backstrap. The barrel address has entirely worn away with only a very faint remnant visible at the tail. The action has a few more clicks than it should but is smooth, firm, and crisp and functions wonderfully. Cylinder locks up on time with a little typical play. Bore shows very strong sharp rifling front to back with light/moderate blackpowder frosting and some light superfine pinprick pitting. Overall very good for such a well used piece. A Colt factory letter is included confirming the gun's original configuration as .45 caliber, barrel length not listed (standard 7 1/2"), blue finish, stocks not listed (standard), shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company, Chicago, Illinois, June 18 1883.
