Description:
A James Purdey stalking rifle made in 1836. It is in excellent vintage condition and could be shot today. It is a 12 bore, (.720") with excellent multi groove rifling with strong lands and smooth grooves. The barrell  is 29" and has near 100% Damascus pattern showing. It is equipped with a blade front sight and a single 50 yd. standing rear sight with 3 folding leaves. The Purdey name and address is very ledgeable on the barrel. All the other metal work is fully engraved with scroll and game scenes showing deer, stags, a hog and dog scene on the lock. The lock works perfectly as does the stalking safety. This rifle weighs 9 lbs. and is pleasant to shoot with patched round balls. The Walnut stock is in nice shape as well and does not show any repairs or damage. The Flat-top checkering is full wrap around on the forend and grip. This rifle comes with an original James Dixon leather covered powder flask and the original owners biographical information as well as the letter from Purdey. This museum quality rifle will make a great addition to your collection.  Please give call Raff at 760 497 7836 or email if you have any questions and thank you for looking.
