Shapleigh Hardware was one of the supply hubs for the American west.  Started in 1843 as Roger, Shapleigh and Company, it morphed through several names always returning to the Shapleigh name.  Winchester, Colt, Marlin were stock names.  They had their own line of cowboy leather.  The first Shapleigh catalog was published in 1853.  The company adopted the "Diamond Edge" trade mark in 1864 for their line of tools. This shotgun was made for them in Belgium and was probably a top of the line item.

Condition: .excellent bores, 90% damascus figure on barrels, 80% case color on frame, 15% blue on locks, excellent wood, excellent mechanically, excellent marks, one replaced screw on barrel lug.
