Ten Below Firearms is proud to offer this Very Historic WW2 Hero USAF Colonel "Barney" Rueben A. Baxter personal Smith & Wesson .38 Chief Special Pre-Model 36 "5 Screw" revolver wearing the stunning Hand Engraved Blue & Silver Inlay finish, wearing a 2" barrel, Iconic 38 S&W Special Cartridge and an gorgeous set of factory original S&W walnut checkered diamond service grips in excellent condition. She comes as shown in the Custom American Walnut presentation case with blue interior, Roy Jinx S&W Historical Letter and the original newspaper clipping of "Barney's" passing in 2002. Revolver was built in 1952 wearing serial number 21959. Colonel "Barney" Baxter was a pilot in the USAF and fought heroically in WW2 "China-Burma India Theater". Baxter was one of the lucky ones who made it back and was assigned by the USAF to Colorado Springs, CO as base commander at Ent Field where he met the love of his life Velma Dorris Baxter. This S&W revolver was personally owned by "Barney" wearing period hand engraving with silver inlay and is also engraved on the back strap "Lt. Col. R.A. Baxter". In our years of collecting/selling we have never seen a more beautiful historic piece of American craftsmanship . In our opinion this beautiful firearm is in Collector Grade condition showing only the faintest of handling and use This S&W Pre-Model 36 will be listed as Used.
