Description:
WORLD WAR I 1918 Dated DWM German LUGER PISTOL P.08 9x19mm HARDMAN C&R

With HOLSTER, EXTRA MAGAZINE, and Takedown Tool

Here we present a C&R German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Pistole Parabellum P.08 Military Luger Pistol, made in 1918 in Berlin. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical and productive fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end.

This nice pistol is a nice example of a late-World War I German Luger manufactured by DWM in 1918. The right side of the barrel extension has the three “Crown/Script” proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof. The top of the chamber is Great War dated “1918”. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM”.

The overall condition is good. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is in good condition with good rifling; it has certainly been shot a good deal. The grips are solid; there is a chip at the safety on the left side. The numbers match with the exceptions of the magazine bases and the takedown lever of the pistol. One magazine is tinned and the other is blued and from the WWII period (this one has a cracked wooden base). The holster is in good shape. It has faint maker markings on the back along with soldier graffiti (likely American) with the name “HARDMAN” repeated several times in addition to “FARA” and some other that is not terribly legible. The inside of the flap contains a takedown tool.
