SPRINGFIELD ARMORY U.S. M1 GARAND Infantry Rifle .30-06 SPRG C&R "The greatest battle implement ever devised"- George Patton Here we present a Springfield U.S. M1 Garand Rifle, manufactured circa 1957 at the Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. This .30-06 caliber semi-automatic rifle was that standard U.S. service rifle during World War II and the Korean War and also saw service during the Vietnam War. Most were issued to U.S. forces, though some were also provided as foreign aid to American allies. To say that it was and is highly regarded would be an understatement. In the words of General Patton, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.” This one features a receiver by Springfield Armory in the last year of production. The barrel is marked SA F6535448 6 55 MD 51 and P with an Ordnance eagle. The bolt is marked 6528287-SA over Y01. The trigger group is marked 6528290-SA and the hammer SA D5546008. The op rod is 6535382 SA. The receiver leg is T 5 over F 6528291. The stock is marked with “SA/NFR” on the left stock flat. The pistol grip has a circle P and a crossed cannons Ordnance marking on the pistol grip flat. The overall condition is good. Excellent action. Bright bore, sharply rifled and measuring .301. Solid stock with still visible inspection markings and a clear coat applied. A B-SQUARE scope mount has been installed in place of the rear sight (rear sight assembly has been removed).
