Description:
ORIGINAL  AUTHENTIC 1909 MODELO ARGENTINO MAUSER , DWM GERMAN  MADE in 1910, INFANTRY RIFLE WITH ORIGINAL CARL ZEISS NEDINSCO SNIPER SCOPE, ORIGINAL  MOUNTS, ORIGINAL LEATHER SLING,  IN CORRECT, COMPLETE CONVERTED MILITARY CONFIGURATION WITH MATCHING NUMBERS AND NO IMPORT MARKS IN  VERY GOOD CONDITION with a GORGEOUS WOODSTOCK.  7.65 x 53 Argentine ; 29" barrel.

Collin Webster in the Argentine Mauser Rifles book talks about this Sniper rifles in chapter 18 & also Robert Ball in page 14 of his book Mauser Military Rifles of the World.  This particular rifle is in the exact configuration shown in page 156 (C Webster's book) & also shown in page 14 (R Ball's book), a 1909 Rifle with the 1927 - 4x31 Nedinsco- Zeiss Scope on low turret mounts. The Argentines were among the first to pair snipers. The Nedinsco Sights are of German origin and were purchased from Nedinsco by the 3rd Argentine Commission in 1927. Nedinsco is the acronym for Netherlands Instrument Company controlled by the Carl Zeiss Company in Jena.

NOT many rifles were converted to Snipers and NOT many you will encounter in the US, as the Argentine military keep using them even after they were replaced by the FALs. Very few examples of the Sniper Rifles complete with the original scopes survived.

This Rifle was previously own by an Argentine Collector who inherited directly from Master Armorer J. Castillo at the DGFM FMAP Factory in Argentine, where it was kept on display at the Armorers Director office.

Description: EXTREMELY RARE FIND! From my private individual collection. Excellent beautiful, detailed sharp, crisp Argentine-German manufacturer's markings and inspection marks; deep well  marked cartouches. MATCHING NUMBERS ON RECEIVER, BOLT,  TRIGGER GUARD-MAG FLOOR PLATE, WOOD STOCK AND BUTTPLATE ; NOT matching Cleaning rod. The wood stock has matching SN with Argentine cartouches/inspection marks, it is a beautiful handsome blond walnut wood in excellent condition, solid, with NO REPAIRS, NO CRACKS,NO GAUGES; it has very very few, very small tiny almost unnoticeable scattered indentations, bruises, scratches, handling marks. The hanguard has the same wood tone matching the buttstock, showing a tiny chip on the right corner by the receiver ring. The buttplate is bright and shiny, in the white,  with some light handling marks-scratches.  Metal above wood line retains generous amounts of its original factory rich blue finish, with slight loss edge wear, some slight discoloration, thinning, fading silvering even patina, tiny freckles-aging spots on exposed barrel, a tiny cluster of freckles on the right side of the receiver ring, minimal light scratches from normal handling. Good tight action; mechanically fine; cocks on open. Bent bolt. Bending the bolt was necessary to cock the bolt while the mounts and the scope were in place. The rifle has a clean chamber. To the naked eye, the bore is bright with strong rifling. The rifle has the Ricchieri bayonet adaptor in place. NO import mark noted. The scope mounts are original. The Original NEDINSCO CARL ZEISS Scope 4 (the magnification multiple)marked on the rear left x30,8 (the lens diameter) marked on the rear right, is in great shape. Well defined markings;  on the front of the scope " EJERCITO ARGENTINO ? 444" which is the Argentine Army SN and on the rear of the scope, "NEDINSCO s Gravenhage Systeem CARL ZEISS JENA 29342" which is the manufacturer's SN. The Scope has bright clear optics with the classic 3 post German reticle. and it comes with the original leather optic cup covers. The rifle comes with the original leather sling in nice shape, supple and malleable with a bit of verdigreen on the brass buckle and back of the brass grommets. Book pictures for reference only.

UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN a 1909 Argentine Mauser rifle in correct, converted to SNIPER MILITARY CONFIGURATION with the ORIGINAL  ZEISS NEDINSCO SCOPE, ORIGINAL SLING in Great condition, MATCHING (except for the cleaning rod), with excellent detailed markings, well deep marked cartouches.
