Overall measuring about 67" long with a round barrl of about 51" and a good working flintlock with profuse shower of sparks . Name on the lock looks like Draake for this lofficers fusil of the 18th century. No barrel proofs so it is A,merican made. Brass side plate states:CANTON, N.FRENCH. A well known martial gun makwer for the state of Massachusetts for several years and this appear to be a Militia musket of early style before 1795. possibly for the Rev.War? . and made in Canton, Massachusetts. This musket follows a pattern identified by Norm Flayderman as the “New England FlintlockThe majority were likely made for and issued in the State of Massachusetts and possibly even paid for by local towns or counties. They do conform to a general pattern and style as illustrated, although numerous variations are seen.” The pattern includes a band-less method of securing the barrel to the full length stock, much like the British Brown Bess, .60 caliber, brass fixtures, various sporting-type locks.Muzzle measures .610" or .60 cal for officers, and the smooth bore. Bore has fouling but will clean better. This is a New England estate found gun. A very rare New England martial made flintlcok officers fusil.
