Description:
This is an original US Army M1902 Officer Saber with matching Scabbard. This saber is 37" over-all with a 31 1/2" highly etched blade from the Pettibone & Brothers Mfg. Co. of Cincinnati. The blade is in very good condition with a light coating of oxidation. The guard and pommel are in likewise condition with no damage just oxidation from age. The blade is etched with scroll work half way to the tip with a bit more oxidation on the blade edge. The blade has the name "Lt. R. H. Royce". In researching the name, one finds a Lt. Royce graduating from West Point in 1914 and serving in two wars and retiring Major General Ralph Royce in 1946. No way to know for sure but the patterns and lettering on the blade match the other dated swords form that era.
