The terrific BDL VS (heavy barrel varmint model) introcuded a few yrs before was lst chambered in hot 22-250 in 1966 when only 55 were produced...They were well received and in the following yr (this yr) 3750 were chambere in this cal) The metal, all metal on this gun is exceptional. The otherwise handsome lst gen fleur de lis checkered stock has many compression and handling marks. While still attractive we are calling the metal well over 90% and the stock (no chips or deep scratches) 60 to 70%
22-250 proved to be a nice answer to the 220 swift which (having nearly the velocity of the Swift but not the short barrell life of the Swift
Although we've never shot this one these guns (basically the same as were used in the model 40 by Viet Era Snipers) are known for more or less one hole accuracy right out of the box. We have many fine good used scopes we sell for about 60% of new that would go nicely with this rifle.
The peeling varnish on the factory Alum Rem Butt plate tells one that it has never been refinshed...as this was from overspray of the hard Remington finish at the factory
