Description: From my personal collection. Very good, nice condition, antique Argentine military issue Colt Double Action .38 LONG caliber revolver. 38 Long takes the 38 Short & Long.This is a very scarce gun, with only 5,000 made with this markings, with serial numbers between 80XXX and 85XXX. This example is serial #83507, shipped to the Naval Ministery of War in Argentina; with ALL MATCHING NUMBERS. Nice clear crisp Argentine crest on the right side of the frame and Rampant Colt on the left side. Standard Colt markings on the barrel "COLT. D. A. .38" on the left side; "MODELO ARGENTINO 1895" on the right side and "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO.-HARTFORD-CT. U.S.A; PATENTED AUG.5th,1884 NOV.6th,1888 MAR,5 95" on the top. Metal finish appears to have some of the original blue remaining thinning, fading, mixed with a brownish-grayish even pleasing patina. It has a tiny few spots of pitting on the frame and cylinder. 5” barrel. To the naked eye, the bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling and scattered light imperfections. It has the original lanyard swivel incorporated on the bottom of the frame. Wood grips appear to have the original finish with some normal scratches, handling marks; left panel has a tiny tight hairline (very hard to notice). Mechanically very good and tight. Century Arms import marked on the left side of the frame. It comes with the Colt Archive Letter and the original Holster. Book pictures for reference only.
Holster: Very dark brown almost black leather holster for the "Colt DA Modelo Argentino 1895" . Leather is supple with some wear, discoloration, creasing and normal aging handling marks-scratches. It has an inside pocket with a flap covering 12 individual 38 cartridge holders (2 loads). Stitches are in great shape, nice and tight as well as the hardware & rivets. The holster fits the revolver perfectly.
A seldom seen COLT, MODELO ARGENTINO 1895 military revolver with all matching numbers and intact CREST, with COLT Archive Letter and Original HOLSTER that will make an excellent addition to your collection.
