Description:
Very scarce configuration. Factory records indicate that there were only 32 Parker's ever ordered in this grade and at the time these were the highest grade Parker offered. This gun comes with a factory letter stating that it was ordered by Wm. Caldwell of Cincinnati, OH on June 20, 1883. Top action hammer gun, 10 gauge, 32 inches in length. Special instructions were "2-5/8 inch frame must shoot close and even". The price at the time was $225. Gun weighs 10 pounds 8 ounces. Gun was returned in 1898 to put new tumblers in the locks. Most original Damascus pattern is visible. Very good bores with just a few light pits. All markings are good. Beautifully engraved side plates. Hammers are quite elaborate. On the top of the receiver is a fluted area that is seen on the Grade 6. A considerable amount of original case color remains. Some are turning a little nickely. Pistol grip checkered European walnut stock shows some use and a  sound repair through the grip and a period repair with some tacks in the checkering. It is solid. Engraved skeleton steel buttplate. Bottom of the receiver also has a game scene. Desirable top opener. You never come across these high graded hammer guns and this one is lovely.
