Description:
This is a No. 23 Machete manufactured by Clark & Parsons Co. in East Wilton, Maine. This scarce machete was made between 1894 and 1904 after which the company was bought out by Dunn Edge Tool of Oakland, Maine. Very well made it measures 29 3/4" overall with a rugged 24 1/2" blade marked in a similar fashion to the famous Collins machetes: "Clark & Parsons Co. / East Wilton, ME U.S.A. / Acero Fino / Calidad / Garantizada" with arm and machete logo over "Relampago". It has a five rivet horn handle that is now missing a piece below the bottom rivet on the left grip panel and comes in a fancy leather scabbard with the company logo over "14" and is in very good condition with wear along the throat and tip which has a small hole. A seldom encountered, well made machete that was heavily sold in Cuba and made in Maine.
