Modified M1 Carbine to the “TANKER” Configuration
Here we present a C&R Springfield U.S. M1 Garand “Tanker” Modified Configuration Rifle, manufactured in December of 1943 at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. This rifle is an original .30-06 caliber semi-automatic rifle and was the standard U.S. service rifle during World War II and the Korean War and also saw service during the Vietnam War. Most were issued to U.S. forces, though some were also provided as foreign aid to American allies. To say that it was and is highly regarded would be an understatement. In the words of General Patton, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.”
Traditionally, M1s dubbed as “Tankers” have a modified 18-inch barrel and leave two inches of the front handguard intact, like this example.
The overall condition is very good. Refinished. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright with strong rifling. The stock is in good condition and solid throughout.
