Description:
This is a US WWI M1917 Bolo Knife/Scabbard. This example was manufactured by the American Cutlery Company of Chicago, Illinois in 1918. The blade is in very good to excellent condition with most of the original finish intact, very nice edge and correct point. The blade is marked on the ricasso, "A.C. CO CHICAGO 1918" obverse "US MOD 1917 C.T.". The guard has signs of wear on edges but nice finish elsewhere. The handle has a dark patina with almost no imperfections. The very good to excellent condition Brauer Bros. 1917 D.M marked scabbard has nice stitching and few stains with fully functioning hardware.
