Description:
Another great item from Gainesville Pawn! Up for sale is a Onyx Arms Inc.  S.A. FAL. This is one of the few all Israeli manufactured FAL. It is in excellent condition and takes metric magazines. (Please read the information below. This is the explanation from the man who built the gun in Israel. This is what he posted in a forum.)

Below is his history of the firearm.
I owned ONYX ARMS Inc, located in Helena, Bozeman and Great Falls, Montana, USA. From 1984 to 1989

Onyx Arms was an Importer, manufacturer, and NFA manufacturer of Firearms.

I did import Complete L1A1 (A) Semi-automatic Rifles and COMPLETE RECEIVERS from Lithgow Arsenal in Australia, In the years 1984, 1985, 1986. I never purchased or imported any incomplete receivers and finished them in the United States. ALL my receivers WERE 100% made at lithgow and are proofed as such.

ATF. directed my company to mark these Receivers with the designation L1A1A

In 1986 Lithgow informed my company that they were re-tooling and would not be able to make any more semiautomatic receivers.

In 1987 I then contracted with SBL in Israel to manufacture Complete FAL receivers using FN Belgium forgings. This was done in the Years of 1987 and 1988, these receivers were made in several different styles, type 1,2 and 3, but all marked SBL and Onyx Arms, GTF , MT,

These SBL receivers are in no way connected with any other importer.

The first two digits of all of the receivers Israel or Australian are the year of production.

I did make complete rifles using Belgium, British, Australian and Israel kits that I also imported.

I also sold receivers direct to dealers.

I also did make NFA weapons.

I have seen pictures of several FAL’s that are marked ONYX but are not my receivers.

Should you have any questions you can contact me at this address.I am the owner of ONYX ARMS, and I was the original contractor who paid SBL to produce semi-automatic receivers, I was living in Israel at the time 1987 -1988 and I was notified by Lithgow Australia that they were going to dismantle there L1A1 production and therefore I could not buy any more Receivers. At that time I rented a factory from IMI located on a tank base about 5 miles south of Jerusalem Mishor Adumin (in occupied territory controlled by the Israel Military, therefore outside Israel itself), I have a large inventory of small arms, including almost every type of FAL rifle produced, some I had purchased from the Israel Government and most I purchased from Lebanon( captured by Israel and sold to me). I was also friends with the FN represented for Israel, through him I was able to purchase BLANK FORGINGS from FN Belgium and then contracted SBL to mill them for me. SBL has been involved with the original production of the FN-FAL made in Israel, they therefore had a background in FAL production. I personally decided all aspects of the first production, I wanted a metric receiver, However I had SBL make me several different receivers, some with metric barrel threads , and some with inch pattern barrel threads, at that time I has a lot of used kits and was importing them, most were Israel and Rhodesian, I even had a few totally inch L1A1 made. I copied the outside cuts of the early and late model (slab side) FAL. I imported for two years and then had my little issue with the ATF in 1989. Armscorp started purchasing from SBL after that. I paid for all the setup and tooling, the Forgings were cut out on computerized CNC machines and were original FAL receivers were reverse engineered to obtain the tolerances. Now you know
