Here we have a very clean Browning Hi Power semi auto pistol in .40 S&W caliber. The Browning Hi-Power is a single-action, semi-automatic pistol available in the 9×19mm Parabellum and .40 S&W calibers. It was based on a design by American firearms inventor John Browning, and completed by Dieudonné Saive at FN Herstal. Browning died in 1926, several years before the design was finalized. FN Herstal named it the "High Power" in allusion to the 13-round magazine capacity (in 9mm), almost twice that of other designs at the time, such as the Walther P38 or Colt M1911. The .40 S&W is a rimless pistol cartridge developed jointly by American firearms manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Winchester in 1990.[3] The .40 S&W was developed as a law enforcement cartridge designed to duplicate performance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) reduced-velocity 10mm Auto cartridge which could be retrofitted into medium-frame (9 mm size) semi-automatic handguns. It uses 0.40-inch diameter bullets ranging in weight from 105 to 200 grains. This particular example was made in Belgium and assembled in Portugal. The pistol is in outstanding mechanical and physical condition. It has a very few light handling marks. The barrel has an excellent bore with strong rifling. The grip panels are excellent being free of cracks or chips. Sights are simple fixed front and rear white dot. This fine Browning Hi Power would make a great addition to a collection or a fine shooter. One magazine comes with the pistol. No box.
