Description:
Dutch J.F.J. BAR Antique DELFT Model 1873 “Old Model” .22 RF DA Revolver

C&R Netherlands Military Revolver Spanning 67 Years

Here we present an antique Dutch J.F.J. Bar Model 1873 “Old Model” Military Service Revolver converted to .22 Rimfire, made circa the late 1870s to the late 1880s in Delft in the Netherlands. First issued in 1873, this Model saw much service in the Dutch East Indies as a very reliable black powder revolver chambered in 9.4mm. The early examples were fitted with octagonal barrels as this one has, but these were later changed to round barrels for ease of manufacture.

The revolver was adopted by the Dutch army in 1873 and was manufactured by several Dutch gun makers. The Model 1873 was in the Netherlands’ military service from 1873 until 1940. The “New Model” revolvers have a round barrel and a letter prefix in front of the serial number. It’s very rare and unusual to find these revolvers, especially in good condition. It was first issued in 1873 and saw high usage of service in the Dutch East Indies as a very reliable black powder revolver. These are difficult to find many details, as they are very uncommon here in the United States.

The overall condition is very good. Some original blue remains. Excellent action. Shiny bright bore with nice rifling. Both grips are in very good shape with light wear. Numbers match. Markings are legible. Many proof markings can be found throughout this example.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 6-3/8 inches.

Caliber: .22 Rimfire converted from 9.4mm

Overall condition as seen in photos.
