Antique Belgian SPENCER Saddle Ring Carbine .50 Centerfire FALISSE TRAPMANN 1873 BRAZILIAN CONTRACT
Description: Antique Belgian SPENCER Saddle Ring Carbine .50 Centerfire FALISSE TRAPMANN 1873 BRAZILIAN CONTRACT Here we present an antique Belgian Falisse & Trapmann Spencer Saddle Ring Carbine in .50 Spencer Centerfire, manufactured circa 1873 in Liege, Belgium. Spencer rifles and carbines were popular with French troops during the 1870-71 Franco-Prussian War, with shipping records showing thousands of them being acquired for use. The Brazilian cavalry also used both US & Belgian made Spencer carbines. The Spencer became so popular that the private manufacturer Falisse & Trapmann of Liege, Belgium manufactured copies in 1873 and 1874 and their manufacturing quality is obvious. Having seen hundreds of Spencers, I might even give the edge to the Falisse & Trapmann. Falisse & Trapmann produced less than 1,000 of these carbines in 1873, believed to be exclusively for a Brazilian contract. Some of these were converted to centerfire, as this one has been. On this example, the Falisse & Trapmann “FT” proofs are seen on several parts throughout. It features fixed blade front and folding ladder rear sights. There is a saddle ring and bar on the left side of the stock wrist and is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a sling swivel. The left rear side of the barrel is marked with a Liege proof and the left side of the receiver is marked with a “crown/circled A” proofmark and the saddle ring bar plate has a “crown/circled B” proof from the Brazilian government. The normal “UNION ARMORIERE BELGE/LIEGE” marking on top of the receiver and the maker cartouche with 1873 date on the right of the buttstock is clear. The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. The action is excellent. The bore is in fine condition with bright surfaces and sharp rifling. The stock shows use and remains solid with clear markings. A fantastic Spencer carbine in centerfire! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 20 inches. Caliber: .50 Spencer Centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3200 #233606 SOLD Antique: Yes |
