"NSN, made in 1864, .58 caliber, 40"" round proofed barrel. Barrel and other metal parts are a brown/plum patina with scattered surface oxidation visible throughout, barrel is dated 1864. Lock plate is marked with ""U.EAGLE.S/PROVIDENCE TOOL CO./PROVIDENCE RI"". Rear of hammer is marked ""1864"". Stock has a crack on the right side that goes from the middle barrel to the front band. Action is soft but does hold at half and full cock. One of 70,000 muskets manufactured during the Civil War.
