Description:
"Serial No. 2009, circa 1864, .52 caliber, 20"" octagonal to round barrel. Barrel and receiver are a grey patina with scattered brown oxidation visible throughout, Nipple and breech show heavier oxidation. Bore has areas of heavy pitting visible, rifling still remains strong. Faint ""Union/Rifle is present, lockplate is marked ""GWYN & CAMPBELL/PATENT/1862/HAMILTON.O."" Stock is very good with handsome cartouches noted. This is the 3rd variation with the more pronounced heel of the butt plate. The claw like vertical mount has been broken unfortunately, making the breech unable to be locked. Action function correctly with the hammer holding at half and full cock.
