"Unable to read serial number under the bolt, circa 1859-1860's, .53 caliber, 35"" round barrel. Rifle is in relic condition with the barrel and other metal parts a dark brown patina with heavy surface oxidation visible. Bore is pitted with oxidation noted in the lands and grooves.Rear sight has been removed, Stock has expected nicks, dings, scratches. A crack is visible on the left side starting from the tang and going down about 3.5"". Under hammer does function correctly. Bolt is the only part of the action that does not function. One of only 1500 made for the U.S.
