Description:
GERMAN SCHRODER PATENT NEEDLE-FIRE DOUBLE BARREL HAMMERLESS 20 GAUGE SIDE X SIDE SHOTGUN CIRCA LATE 1860’S. 28” Damascus barrels signed on center rib “MORSTEIN IN GUBEN”. Blitz underlever rotary barrel release, double triggers and safety. Checkered straight grip stock and forend. Horn carved pistol grip and horn butt plate. Scroll engraving on frame and mounts. Excellent overall much of the original finish and wood. Working order although the needle firing pins are missing. Very good bores. Identical breech mechanism as on the very rare Civil War Schroder U.S. Trials carbine but with a different barrel release mechanism. Other German needle-fire guns were developed during this same brief period including the Dreyse. All are scarce and seldom seen.
