Shiloh Sharps Hartford Model 45-70 30" full heavy octagon w/ Montana Vintage Arms Scope mounted and ready to go!
This is a Shiloh Sharps Hartford Model with the Hartford collar, military butt stock and double set triggers. Special features are a patchbox and factory installed swivel eyes. This rifle is also equipped and factory installed Montana Vintage Arms Series 3000 Scope and mounts.
The story behind this rifle is I bought this rifle off of Gun 14 years ago as a Shiloh Sharps Hartford Model in 50-90 it had mostly standard features including a standard weight barrel that had been cut down to 24". I already had a 50-90 rifle but I had been looking for a lighter Shiloh with a shorter barrel so I bought it. When I shot a few rounds through it I found that rifle really thumped and it was uncomfortable to shoot more than a few rounds though it. The fellow I bought it from was a wrangler and hunting guide in Washington and used this rifle as a saddle gun and backup when guiding. One of the reasons he was selling it was because it thumped him too.
So I called up Shiloh Sharps and talked to Kurt and he got the history of the rifle for me and it turned out the rifle had originally left the factory with a 34" barrel! The guide I bought the rifle from bought it with the 24" barrel already on it. So one can only guess who and why the original owner cut the barrel down.
To continue with the story, while on the phone with Kurt I asked him about having the rifle re-barreled with a heavy weight 30" 45-70 and I was going to send him the MVA mounts and scope to be mounted at the factory. At the same time Kurt installed the patchbox. This is how the rifle is presently.
This is a real neat rifle and has had very little use the barrel is new and the scope is virtually new. To get a set up like this now would be over $4900 this one is for sale at $4675.00 If you want other pictures ask we have a lot of this rifle only limited to 20 here.
**Shipping Notes**: The rifle and scope will ship separately to lessen the risk of damaging the scope in shipping. The rifle will be shipped in a Shiloh rifle case with an over cardboard box to cover it. Shipping weight will be around 20lbs for the rifle along. Shipping UPSP Ground would be approximately $99.00 for the rifle with insurance. Shipping the scope will be less but will be shipped in a Styrofoam enclosure within a cardboard box.
