"U.S. Springfield 1875 Officers model Type I rifle chambered in 45-70 with a 36"" barrel. Metal is a dark grey patina with surface oxidation visible. Wood shows handling and usage wear, bore is good with some pitting noted in the grooves. Trigger guard is a period correct replacement. Something may have happened to the original while in the field. Only 477 were manufactured.
