Early rifle w non-rebounding "Grant Patent" locks and stalking safeties, barreled or possibly rebarreled by Alex Henry w. beautiful damascus Henry-rifled bbls. Long tangs, graceful open pistol grip w. steel grip cap. Excl screws, Jones action nicely engraved w. tight English scroll. Dolphin hammers, strong springs. Comb has a correct soft leather addition that has clearly been redone not too long ago. Excellent bright bores with minor freckles. One fixed leaf, one folding (200 yds). Marbled stock LOP 14 3/8" to engraved & checkered spurred steel plate marked " 4 drams no. 6 powder", shortened at one time and then put back with the original spurred steel buttplate. Elegant gun that has had careful owners, Grant rifles are exceptionally rare.
