Description:
I am offering from my personal collection a premium quality custom, 1951 vintage, Model 70 Winchester, bolt action rifle chambered in .270 Winchester. the rifle was built by Larry Brace of Eugene, OR. This rifle was featured on the cover of and written up in the May 2001 issue of Rifle magazine. The action was surface ground and polished inside and out. A new classic bolt handle was added with 4 panel checkering. the floorplate was replaced with a new 1 piece straddle style with bow release. Scope bases were custom made from steel bar stock. The original barrel is still very accurate, still capable of sub minute groups with Nosler 150 grain Partition bullet factory loads. The barrel was recrowned with an 11 degree target crown. The sight boss was recontoured to streamline the barrel. The stock is English walnut and displays pleasing color and great grain layout. Checkering is 24 line ribbon/point pattern.and border. Buttplate is Biesen and the pistolgrip cap is Fisher. The stock is completed with an ebony forend and full shadowlined cheekpiece. All engraving and gold inlay work was done by master engraver Robert Evans of Oregon City, Oregon. Rust blueing was done by Larry Brace.
This custom rifle is as good as it gets in all respects by top craftsmen. My photography skills do not do justice to this beautiful rifle which is as good as they come by top craftsmen and remains in new condition.
