About Us: I am a custom gunmaker specializing in re-creating pre-World War I sporting rifles, crafted with precision and respect for tradition. Starting with quality rifles such as the Ruger No.1, Mauser, Winchester Model 70, Ruger M77, CZ, or BRNO, I transform them into sleek, slender hunting rifles inspired by the elegance of 1910 designs. I also craft the elegant Faeton Underhammer muzzleloading rifles and Model 1911 .45 Super Longslide pistols. Call me or visit my site, which is listed on some of the photos, for more information regarding my line of fine bespoke firearms. Also check out my Custom Services listing under GUNSMITHING.

Description:
I believe that every man deserves to own and hunt with at least one Great Rifle in his lifetime. Such a rifle becomes a trusted friend and a treasured heirloom. My specialty is recreating those Pre-War (the Great War) Sporting rifles that handle like a fine shotgun and seem to float to the shoulder and aim themselves effortlessly. I can create that One Great Rifle for you.

 OUR SERVICES
We begin with your rifle and perform the stock modifications that will convert your modern, clubby hunting rifle into a sleek and slender early English or Germanic-style Stalking Rifle.

We start with your rifle stock and re-sculpt it into the sleek, slender and graceful form of those Pre-War rifles of both Germanic and English Sporting Rifles. The comb is lowered and thinned for easier viewing of iron sights, while the forearm is shortened and thinned with a faux Ebony or Schnable finish to the tip. We then checker and finish with our all-weather Vintage Finish. The price is only $1,450.00 - much less than a new custom stock.

Wait, there’s more...
For the hunter who wants a bit more than the basic treatment, consider the following:

Ruger No.1 African Stalking Rifle
Return with us to the days of grand safaris in darkest Africa, where single shot rifles provided the ultimate challenge of the hunter's skill. When all that was needed was one good shot from a fine single shot rifle.

The No.1 African Light RifleTM is that fine single shot rifle. Weighing in at around 7 pounds, the African Light Rifle is sleek, slender, and quick to action and wears a premium 26-inch barrel for optimum performance from the legendary .303 British cartridge for which it is chambered. It's been said that the grand old .303 British has taken more African game, big and small, than any other cartridge in the world. It certainly can hold its own even against many modern cartridges. And now also available in .275 Rigby (7x57 Mauser), another of the legendary game cartridges of not only Africa, but of the world.

We begin with your Ruger No.1 which we rebarrel for the .303 British or .275 Rigby. We then slenderize the stock and forearm giving it our English Stalking Rifle treatment. We also add period appropriate sights if yours is a model 1-B. Once you handle the African Light Rifle, we are sure it will become your favorite stalking rifle. Cost for the conversion is only $2,500 unless custom wood is requested which must be quoted separately.

And if you like the English pattern rifles and need a bit more power, our No.1 African Medium Rifle chambered for the justly famous and popular 9,3x62 Mauser is also available. Or if you prefer, we can rebarrel for .318 Westley Richards, .338-06, .35 Whelen (12-inch twist) or our own .375 Renner. Call 775-453-9355 for details or visit our site which is listed on the photos.

Winchester Model 70 Old AfricanTM

WE BEGIN WITH YOUR TIRED OUT MODEL 70...

The Model 70 Winchester represents the Mauser System in its ultimate form and is the basis for our Old AfricanTM Medium Rifle. We begin with your Model 70 and slenderize the stock by reducing the forearm length and slenderizing it along with the buttstock and we add a genuine ebony forearm tip. We install the sling swivel on the barrel and a matching swivel in the buttstock.

Then we rebarrel to one of the medium-bore African cartridges such as the 9,3x62 Mauser or the .318 Wesley Richards. The .338-06 and .35 Whelen (12-inch twist) are also fine African cartridges when appropriately loaded.. We also add appropriate sights, either Rigby, Westley Richards, or Holland & Holland-style to complete that English/African look.

We also offer a "light" version of the Old African which features our slenderized action and stock and and it can be rebarreled for a variety of cartridges including the .25-06, 6.5X55, 6,5X57 Mauser, .270 Winchester, 7X57 Mauser, .280 Remington, .30-06 Springfield, 8X57 or...?

Other bolt action rifles...
We can also work our magic and produce a wonderful early African hunting rifle on your Ruger M-77, CZ 550, BRNO, Browning bolt, Mauser Mark X, Charles Daly Mauser, Parker Hale Mauser, Remington 700, Husqvarna, or most any quality bolt action rifle. The cost for the complete African package is $3000. Call 775-453-9355 for details.

Germanic Styling
Our Germanic treatment is similar to our English treatment in that we slenderize the rifle and lower and thin the comb, but we also sculpt receiver panels (if requested) and finish the forearm with a schnable tip. For those who appreciate traditional German styling, the result is the ultimate German Sporter. Finishing with fine, borderless checkering and our all-weather Vintage Finish completes the process.

Now you can enjoy the look and wonderful handling qualities of those early Mauser sporting rifles without the high cost of an original Oberndorf. We can also provide these services for certain other quality bolt action rifles including the wonderful Mark X Mini Mauser, Model 70 Winchester, Ruger 77, CZs and BRNOs and other quality bolt action rifles.

The cost for the Germanic "Rhinelander" package is still only $1,450.00 for the basic service, far less than the cost of restocking. We also offer several options of sights and hardware that results in a truly unique rifle that will provide you with a lifetime of shooting and hunting pleasure.
