Extremely rare, gorgeous Astra 840 Sidelock, 12GA, Straight Grip, Checkered Forend and Matching Stock, Double Triggers, Extractors. It’s been said that the Astra-marked side-lock guns are “rarer than hen’s teeth” here in the States. Bright case hardening. Never imported to the United States.
The top of the left barrel is marked “Made in Spain”, “NITRO”, and the Astra logo. The top of the right barrel is marked “ASTRA – Unceta & Cia S.A. Guernica Spain” and the Astra logo. Both the underside of the left barrel, and the interior of the forend wood are marked with the serial number, “55433”. The underside barrel flats feature various factory stampings and proof marks that include an “N*1” Spanish date code, indicating the year of manufacture as 1968. The water table is marked with various proof marks and factory stampings as well as the serial number, “55433”. The break lever is marked with the Astra logo. The bores are bright and there is very little wear. The barrels near the receiver, the break lever, the trigger assembly, and the safety switch all feature fine floriate engraving. 90%+ of original case-color hardening. Factory stock to butt plate.
